
Championing establishment of parliamentary caucus for sexual and reproductive health in Tanzania
In June 2024, E4C in collaboration with Marie Stopes Tanzania (MST) and Ulingo, organized consultative meetings with members of the Parliament, champions of sexual and reproductive health to discuss establishment of the parliamentary caucus for sexual, reproductive health and rights in Tanzania.
In June 2024, E4C in collaboration with Marie Stopes Tanzania (MST) and Ulingo, organized consultative meetings with members of the Parliament, champions of sexual and reproductive health to discuss establishment of the parliamentary caucus for sexual, reproductive health and rights in Tanzania. This initiative was tone to support a movement by members of parliament from various east and southern Africa region to establish an Eastern and Southern Africa Parliamentary Caucus on Sexual Reproductive Health and Sustainable Development (ESAParC). This movement aims at strengthening engagement of MPs from 25 countries of East and south Africa region in advancing sexual and reproductive health in their respective countries and the region.
Key next steps from these meeting included:
- Suggesting and approving of the Caucus title
- Development of a robust Strategic Plan for the Caucus
- Formulation of a Constitution for the Caucus
- Appointment of the executive Leadership committee for the Caucus
- Validation meeting to finalize and approve the Constitution and strategic plan
- Official launching of the Caucus
